Rochon was born in Torrance, Los Angeles suburb of Torrance, the daughter of Zelma Nurse Practitioner, and Samuel Staples, a business director and graphic designer. Cerritos was her home high school. Her graduation was in 1982. In 1986 she received her bachelor's degree with honors from California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), where she earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. Ullerup was part of the cast as Julia Brynn, a character in the remake series Battlestar Galactica that aired 2006 on Sci Fi Channel. The first two seasons of Sanctuary, she was Ashley Magnus until the character was eliminated. The character was the topic of intense debate among people who wanted her return in future shows. However, Sanctuary was eventually ended in 2012. In the year 2016, Ullerup was cast as Bree O'Brien in Chesapeake Shores. Ullerup played Maggie Thomas the estranged husband of Michael Thomas. Ullerup is a regular in the role of Dale Travers, in the Hallmark Signed, Sealed, Delivered series of films, which began in the year 2016.
